Introduction To Computer

 About Computer

The word "computer " is derived from the Latin word "Computer" which means to Calculate. Computers have become very popular among us due to their versatile characteristics.it saves our times money, effort and reduces the paper works. Its works on the principles of IPO cycles (Input-processing-Output).

                       Input---------->Process------------> Output

Input     -  It is raw data fed to the processor in different forms to be processed.

Process -  It receives and processes the raw data.

Information - It is processed data that can be used for different purposes.

APPLICATION OF COMPUTER

Computers are being used almost everywhere in our day-to-day life. Some of the areas where they are widely used are:
Home: A computer is used at home by children and parents for various purposes.
Education: Computers are used in the field of education to support teachers, students, and management.
Health and Medicine: Computers are widely used in the medical field. They have become essential tools in managing different functions in a hospital, nursing home, or lab. Entertainment: Computers are commonly used in the field of entertainment whether it is film, television, or any other multimedia program.
Business: Computers are used in offices for making and keeping records of financial activities.
Communicating with clients and parties through email and video conferencing.
Banking: Computers are used in the bank for keeping a record of account holders, including the details of money deposited or withdrawn from any account.
Science and Technology: There are so many applications of computers in the field of science and technology for complex and sensitive calculations, it provides a faster, more accurate, and more flexible way of handling data.
Designing: Computers help in graphics designing, fashion designing, and web designing. Engineering: Computers have played vital roles in the field of engineering for designing cars, different scientific kits, and equipment, designing houses and buildings, aircraft for simulation, and designing.

History of Computer

The history of the computer can be broken down into timelines that mark changes in processing, storage size, or other benchmarks. The earliest computers were based on analog principles. These were followed by digital machines like ENIAC, which are much faster and more versatile. This is one of the most important inventions of the 20th century and has changed almost every aspect of our daily lives - from communication to healthcare to entertainment. But its history is a long and complicated journey for this revolutionary device. The history of the computer started at the end of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century when the basic concepts of the modern computer were developed. The word "computer" has its origins in Latin and means "one who computes. "The development of analog computers can be traced back to Charles Babbage's analytical engine in 1837, while their digital counterparts first appeared in theoretical form with mathematician Ada Lovelace's work on Babbage's analytical engine published in 1842.

Humans have always needed to perform arithmetic operations like counting and adding. During the pre-historic period, they counted either on their fingers or by scratching marks on the bones and then with the help of stone, pebble and beads. The word 'computing' means “an act of calculating'. The evolution of computers has passed through several stages before reaching the present state of development. In fact, the history of the computer comprises a gradual development from simple abacus to the electronic computers we use today.

a. Abacus

Abacus was created by the Chinese people about 3000 years ago. it is a rectangular box, divided into two parts by mid bar. The upper part is called “heaven” which consists of two beads and each bead is equal to five and the lower part is called “earth" and consists of fives.
This blog post is a guide to the abacus, a calculating tool or frame traditionally composed of an upright bar and several beads sliding on rods. Abaci are also called bead counters in the plural. It is used as a counting device in mathematics, jewelry making, and crafting musical instruments like rhythm instruments such as metallophones and rattles, and other fields that require calculations or mathematical operations. It is also used as a tool to practice counting, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Abacus is a term of Latin origin. It was applied to the Roman counting board or table. It was Latinized as an abacus in Middle English abacus in early modern English or an abacus in Early Modern English. In Japanese, it is called bōri and it was formerly used to count gold pieces at the rate of 100 "gō" per "shakudai".
